Restoration of Kazi Mtaani Likii recreational park.

The park has been cleaned up, trees have been planted and activities such as collecting garbage and planting trees have been organized. The program was hailed as a success. The attendees had various backgrounds; some were university students and some were employed in different organizations. They were all committed to restoring for future generations to enjoy. The program was also supported by the county government of Laikipia, The organizers hope that this venture will serve as an example of community-driven environmental efforts and encourage other communities to take action. The idea to organize a clean-up drive started at a meeting of the environmentalist. The idea was proposed by one of the group members. Paul Mambo, one of TELLCA (Team Environment Lively Laikipia Crusaders Association) founders, explained how the group came up with the idea. He said that they initially had planned to do a one-day cleanup but that the meeting inspired them to make it a weekly event. “Everyone wanted to help,” he said. “We got a lot of positive feedback from community members, so it encouraged us to do more.
